Job description

About the unit 2D Observation is a 21-bed unit at Blodgett who cares for a variety of patient populations.
This team collaborates well and is proficient in delivering care in a timely manner.
The observation operates as an extension of the emergency department caring for patients who are hospitalized for less than 48 hours.
Being a part of this dynamic team allows you to strengthen your critical thinking skills and provide excellent patient care.
Some examples of the patient populations treated on the Observation unit include cellulitis, CHF, asthma, kidney stones, and TIA.

Scope of work Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider.
Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team.
Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider.
Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients.
Ensures that the required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
