Medical Assistant-Pleasant Hills $1,000 Sign on Bonus

• Preferred Primary Care Physicians is currently recruiting for a full-time Medical Assistant for a practice located in the Pleasant Hills area.
• Prior physician office experience preferred.
• The ideal candidate will have both front and back office experience.
• Phlebotomy skills are a must have.
• General Purpose of the Position: Responsible for assisting physicians and nurses with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks.
• May assist with appointment scheduling and electronic chart management.
• Essential Functions: · Escorts patients to and from exam or treatment rooms as appropriate.
• Records all patient data prior to the physician or nurse seeing the patient.
• This includes vital signs, height and weight, allergies, medications, chief complaint, reason for visit, etc. · Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as directed by the physician. · Answers and returns patient phone calls as directed.
• Is responsible for contacting pharmacies for prescriptions or may answer patient telephone calls for referrals.
• May handle other patient telephone calls as directed by the physician, nurse or Office Manager. · Obtains all necessary patient record information, lab data, diagnostics, consults, etc. as required by the physician or nurse for assessment of the patient's medical status. · Obtains blood specimens from peripheral sites as needed in accordance with OSHA and universal safety precautions · Assists with exams and procedures as requested. · Assists with scheduling tests, procedures or appointments to follow-up on test results · Prepares, maintains and stocks exam and treatment rooms.
• Orders supplies as needed. · Obtains new patient information and any test results. · Assists with administrative duties such as typing, faxing, reception duties, etc. · Processes instruments and equipment as needed. · Informs physician of patient reschedule or no-shows. · Assists with delegated patient education activities including but not limited to distributing educational literature, etc. · Maintains the strictest confidentiality. · Performs other duties as assigned by the physician, nurse or office manager.

Education

• A high school diploma or GED is required. Graduate from an accredited school of medical assistant. Six (6) months of medical assistant experience in a medical practice setting preferred, however open to new graduate applicants.
