Operate electronic urodynamic equipment and assist professional staff with specialized genitourinary testing and procedures. Manage patient scheduling, preparation, and the maintenance of urodynamic machines across multiple clinic locations.
Must be a graduate of an accredited LPN or CMA program with two to three years of direct urodynamic experience. Requires a valid Georgia Driver's License, reliable transportation, and the ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
Under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor, the LPN/CMA Urodynamics Tech will operate electronic urodynamic equipment and assist with related urodynamic procedures and testing for patients.
Job functions: Essential
Ensure urodynamic machines are functioning and accurate prior to daily patient appointments. Obtain patient charts from medical records and contact patient prior to appointment to review the process and procedure. Prepare patients for the procedure and assist professional staff in performing a variety of urodynamic tests. Schedule appointments and laboratory tests; prepare specimens as needed, contact departments to verify appointments. Reschedule appointments, as necessary. Responsible for catheterization of assigned patients under aseptic, atraumatic conditions; observe condition of patients and report unusual conditions. Acts as a resource person to professional staff on the use of urodynamic machines relative to the needs and characteristics of individual cases. Prepares and arranges instruments, towels, solutions, and other supplies for urodynamic appointments. Lift patients and assists wheelchair patients withstanding and/or walking short distances. Carry out verbal and written provider instructions. May perform multi-channel filling cystometry when it is important to determine if altered compliance, detrusor overactivity or other urodynamic abnormalities are present (or not0 in patients with urgency incontinence in whom invasive, potentially morbid, or irreversible treatments are considered. May perform pressure flow studies (PFS) in patients with urgency incontinence after bladder outlet procedures to evaluate for bladder outlet obstruction. Other duties as required.
Education/Experience: Graduate of an accredited LPN or CMA program. LPN is preferred. Two to three years of direct Urodynamic experience preferred. Must have Urology and/or gynecology experience. Must have knowledge of urodynamic and related specialized genitourinary procedures.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills along with attention to detail. Must be reliable and work independently. Ability to multitask, to manage time and meet time-sensitive deadlines. Operate, calibrate, and perform minor maintenance on electronic urodynamic equipment. Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. A valid State of Georgia Driver’s License and reliable transportation is required.
