The Dosimetrist designs and calculates individualized radiation treatment plans to deliver precise doses to cancer patients while protecting healthy tissue. They collaborate with oncologists and physicists to implement beam configurations and ensure quality assurance of treatment systems.
Candidates should ideally have 1-3 years of clinical radiation oncology experience and proficiency in dose calculation software. A CMD certification from the MDCB is required either at the time of hire or within 12 months.
The Dosimetrist is responsible for designing and calculating radiation treatment plans for cancer patients. Working under the supervision of a Medical Physicist and Radiation Oncologist, the Dosimetrist develops individualized treatment plans that deliver precise doses of radiation to targeted areas while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissue. This role requires strong technical knowledge of treatment planning systems, radiologic physics, and anatomy, as well as a deep understanding of radiation oncology practices.
