Perform pre-surgical nursing assessments and provide patient education prior to admission at the Ambulatory Surgery Center. Coordinate care needs, request clearances, and assist in the OR, PACU, and Pre-Op areas to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Requires graduation from an accredited nursing school with current state licensure and BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications. Two years of experience in PACU, ICU/CCU, or ED is desired, with a preference for OR circulating and plastic surgery experience.
The Pre-Op/PACU/OR RN performs pre-surgical nursing assessments and provides education to the patient prior to admission at the Ambulatory Surgery Center. The Pre-Op/PACU/OR RN assesses and evaluates the care needs of the patient, requests necessary pre-surgical clearances and diagnostics, and communicates the patient's plan of care to the ASC. Schedule Full-time, 4 10s Days. (Starting out Mondays - Thursdays but will be adding Fridays in the future). Key
The key duties and responsibilities of the Pre-Op/PACU/OR RN include, but are not limited to: Work with all members of the health care team to provide optimal care to the patient throughout their surgical experience Maintain a friendly, positive and caring attitude with all patients, physicians and staff Assist in patient education during all phases of their experience at the Center Assist in assuring that the proper supplies, instruments and equipment are available for the procedure Assist in assuring that equipment is functioning properly Monitor use of all supplies. Assist with inventory control by proper count of supplies/time used. Document appropriately the care that is given to the patient Continuing education to meet State requirements and keep current with health care changes. Display professionalism at work and in the community as a representative of the Center Take an active role on committees within the department Identifies actual and potential risk to patients and others and takes action to minimize or eliminate risk and maximize safety Performs charge nurse responsibilities as staffing demands and as requested Education/Experience Graduation from an accredited school of nursing Current State licensure and BLS, ACLS and PALS accreditation Two years of PACU, ICU/CCU, or ED experience is desired Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Flexibility to float between Pre-Op, PACU and OR and assist in other ASC responsibilities as needed OR circulating experience preferred, but will train! Experience with Plastic Surgery preferred
