GENERAL DESCRIPTION Pharmacists fill medication orders/prescriptions, monitor patient drug therapies, counsel patients, document interventions, and provide drug information in compliance with all state and federal laws governing the practice of pharmacy including, accepted standards of pharmacy practice.
Characteristic duties 1.
Interprets medication orders/prescriptions (verbal and written) and enters to computerized patient medication profiles accurately.
Uses two patient identifiers to accurately identify each patient.

Prepares and dispenses medications per orders/prescriptions written by licensed prescribers for outpatients according to established policies and procedures.
3.
Compounds and dispenses pharmaceuticals.
4.
Ensures safe, appropriate, cost-effective medication therapies for patients according to established policies and procedures.
5.
Monitors drug therapy regimens for interactions, allergies, unapproved abbreviations, and appropriateness of drug and dose, providing consultation and clarification to providers as necessary.

Provides drug information to patients and their families.
7.
Provides drug information to professional staff.
8.
Supervises and directs pharmacy support personnel.
Verifies the activities of the pharmacy technicians.
9.
Performs work within specified time frames.

Minimum qualifications 1.
Graduation from an accredited college of pharmacy.
2.
License in state of Iowa as a registered pharmacist; eligible for licensure as a registered pharmacist in the state of Iowa.

Continuing education in good standing.
Ideal candidate 1.
Wants up to 2-3 shifts per week with flexibility to cover planned shifts as well as unplanned shifts.

Able to work the following shifts: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4pm, 8am-4:30pm, 8:30am-5pm, 9:30am-6pm, 11:30am-8pm.
Occasional Saturday if needed: 8am-4pm.
