Conduct routine diagnostic tests and process specimens following established analytical standards. Maintain a safe laboratory environment, monitor quality control, and collaborate with medical personnel for patient treatment.
Requires an Associate or Bachelor's degree and certification from ASCP or AMT. Previous laboratory experience is preferred, along with proficiency in phlebotomy and blood bank methodology.
Obtains and processes specimens for quality patient testing.
Performs laboratory testing as outlined in the policy and procedure manuals.
Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
Maintains required records, reports, and statistical information as directed.
Processes specimens for reference laboratory and pathology services.
Orders supplies as necessary to maintain adequate inventory.
Assists other personnel as required or requested for specimen collection and processing.
Follows manufacturer guidelines for all laboratory equipment.
Performs, troubleshoots, and monitors quality control daily
Reviews reference laboratory reports, and follows up as needed.
Consults with other medical personnel as required.
Participates on various committees as requested.
As electronic systems evolve, learn to use the hardware and software associated with them and how they are integrated within our laboratory system.
Experience and competent in blood bank tube methodology.
Phlebotomy skills for all age ranges
Good communication skills
Experience: Previous laboratory experience preferred but not required
Required Education: Associate or Bachelor’s Degree
Required Certifications/Registrations: Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technologist, ASCP or AMT registry
Physical Requirements: Frequent prolonged standing/sitting/walking
Motor coordination and manual dexterity
Repetitive movements
Moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 lbs.)
Ability to carry out procedures as outlined
Eye-hand coordination
Normal eyesight, with or without corrective lenses
Normal speech and hearing
