Provides direct patient care in the surgical environment and works collaboratively with the surgeon and other team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Works under the direct supervision of the surgeon during the intraoperative phase. The RN First Assistant (RNFA) may not concurrently function as the Scrub Nurse while functioning as an RNFA.
Requires a Bachelor's degree, completion of an AORN-standard RNFA program, and a valid California RN license. Must hold BLS and CNOR certifications, with ACLS required within 180 days of hire.
