Provides direct patient care activities including EKG performance, phlebotomy, and monitoring vital signs under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Assists patients with activities of daily living and documents patient progress in electronic medical records.
Requires a High School Diploma or GED and a valid BLS certification. Prefers certification as a Patient Care Technician (CPCT) or equivalent certifications in EKG and phlebotomy.
St. Mary's Medical Center is currently seeking a Part Time Patient Care Specialist. for the Observation Unit. This position assists in providing patient care activities for which employee has been prepared and in conformance with Medical Center policy and procedures, functions under the supervision and guidance of a Registered Nurse.
High School Diploma/GED required. Successful completion of a multi-skilled technician program which includes EKG, phlebotomy, and direct patient care preferred.
EKG and Phlebotomy training with patient experience in clinical setting preferred.
Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT) certification through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT). Certification must be valid and current.
EKG, phlebotomy, and certification in patient care such as Nurse Aide or Clinical Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required an must be maintained.
