A Behavioral Health APP is able to utilize advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision-making skills, while working both independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. This APP will provide health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. This position requires a high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, co-workers, and others. In addition to the responsibilities of this APP as defined in the description, this provider is responsible for providing and supporting behavioral health services to individual patients and families across the continuum of care.
• Master’s or Doctorate degree in a related field from an accredited institution with a specialty focus in mental health. Must be certified by a professional organization in order to exercise advanced competencies including (a) mental health promotion and (b) the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic psychiatric conditions.
Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) – Psychiatry Certification of Added Qualifications (CAQ)
State licensure as either a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or a Physician Assistant (PA) with a Psychiatry

Qualifications (CAQ) with graduate coursework in:
Advanced health assessment (to include both physical and mental health).
Pathophysiology (or neurophysiology/biophysiology).
Pharmacology and/or psychopharmacology (both preferred).
Diagnosis and medication management of psychiatric illness (clinical practicum)
AND have supervised clinical training at the graduate or post-graduate level
Current certification in CPR.
National certification in applicable area.
Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice.
