Orthopedic Technician (Outpatient), Full-time, Day Shift

• Job Summary: Assists physician in providing patient examinations, procedures and orthopedic procedures.
• Assists physician in cleansing wounds, assists in reducing fractures, pin insertions and applications of surgical dressing.
• Job Requirements: Education and Work Experience: High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred Experience as a Medical Assistant (MA): Preferred Licenses/Certifications: Orthopedic Technician certification: Preferred Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred Surgical Technician certification: Preferred Department Specific License/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required Essential Functions: Assists the physician/surgeon with tasks related to bracing, splinting and casting and other procedures as needed.
• Responds to emergencies and other STAT requests.
• Performs clerical duties.
• Consults with provider concerning procedures and patient condition.
• Applies, removes and adjusts orthopedic devices (i.e. splints, casts, bandages and slings) under physician supervision/instruction.
• Assembles/disassembles equipment and instrument ensuring that equipment is available for procedures and examinations.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
