The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood samples using various venipuncture methods and transporting them to the laboratory for diagnostic testing. They also perform routine CLIA waived tests and maintain clinical equipment and work areas.
Candidates should have strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency. Preference is given to those with at least one year of hospital or doctor's office experience and certification from an approved phlebotomy program.
The Phlebotomist draws blood samples to be used for diagnostic testing and transports samples to the appropriate laboratory. Provides updates to the patient areas on results of the tests. Performs appropriate CLIA waived routine tests or procedures in a clinical laboratory.
Requirements, Preferences and Experience
Skill in communicating clearly and effectively using standard English in written, oral and verbal format to achieve high productivity and efficiency. Skill to write legibly and record information accurately as necessary to perform job duties.
Hospital phlebotomy/doctor office experience at least one year.
Basic technology proficiency with computers.
Training is acquired in an approved phlebotomy training program with certification.
