The resident provides direct pharmaceutical care to inpatient and outpatient populations, optimizing drug therapy and reviewing medication orders. They are also responsible for developing drug use policies, conducting quality assurance, and delivering educational presentations.
Candidates must hold a Doctorate in Pharmacy and possess a valid pharmacist license from the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy. No prior work experience is required, but the ability to communicate effectively and handle emergency situations is essential.
Knowledge of pharmacy principles and procedures as obtained through requisite Education/Training. Ability to understand complex written materials (e.g. professional journals). Normal eye-motor coordination, manual dexterity and visual perception. Ability to communicate both orally and written with all levels of Associates, management, physicians, patients and their families. Ability to plan and schedule tasks and projects to maintain control of own and others work flow. Skill in developing and implementing short-range and long-range plans and programs. Ability to work without close supervision or professional guidance and exercise independent judgment. Ability to react quickly to emergency situations, e.g., cardioresuscitation codes, disaster drills. Supervision Provided by this Position Guides the activities of Pharmacy technicians and students in the assigned work area. Physical Demands The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination. The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently. The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading. The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
