Requires a bachelor's degree and two to five years of experience working with adults in a social-service setting. A master's degree in social services or a medical/nursing background is preferred.
The Enrollment/Eligibility Specialist serving in the Ryan White department is responsible for assisting with the coordination and/or completion of all patients' necessary paperwork as it relates to Ryan White eligibility, social service benefit applications (SNAP, SSI, etc.) and navigation through the initial treatment process to ensure clients rapidly have access to resources that allow them to remain in care. The Enrollment/Eligibility Specialist will perform PHASE I intake assessments for new and returning patients. This includes social service support and psychosocial support as the enrollment specialist must feel comfortable assisting those who may be experiencing crisis or trauma. This position must give due consideration to high-risk abuse issues, neglect, domestic violence, exposure to community violence, and/or other forms of trauma often experienced by people living with HIV.
EDUCATION AND LICENSURE: The Enrollment/Eligibility Specialist is required to hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university. A master's degree is in social services, preferred. Medical background or nursing, preferred. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: The Enrollment/Eligibility Specialist must possess a high level of ethics in managing patient confidentiality and advocacy with two to five years' experience working with adults in a social-service setting. The Enrollment/Eligibility Specialist should have a basic understanding of HIV/AIDS and be willing to receive regular training on intersectional topics related to the experiences and treatment needs of people living with HIV (PLWH). Knowledge/experience of budgets and organizational structure as it relates to administrative positions in a healthcare setting/environment would be useful. Effective communication skills: both oral and written. Ability to work with others or within a team and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Must be proficient in the use of computers and computer systems.
