The therapist is responsible for administering radiation treatments to patients according to physician prescriptions and patient charts. They also manage simulation scheduling, billing codes, and the maintenance of treatment equipment.
Candidates must be ARRT registered or eligible and have graduated from an AMA approved radiation oncology technology school with a one-year certificate. Current AHA CPR certification is also required.
The Radiation Oncology Therapist is responsible for administering radiation treatments to patients under the direction of the Radiation oncologist. Must accurately administer radiation to patients per physician's prescription, using information from patients' chart. Schedules simulation and treatment appointments and is responsible for coding patient charges with proper billing codes. Maintains and monitors equipment performance including simulator, treatment machines, film processor; and notifies appropriate supervisor as to any improprieties.
