Provide direct personal care and daily living support to adults with developmental disabilities in their homes and communities. Responsibilities include assisting with grooming, meal preparation, medical appointments, and maintaining detailed consumer logs.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in developmental disability or senior care. Candidates must possess a valid California driver's license, a reliable vehicle, and current CPR/First Aid certifications.
Job title: Direct support professional 1
1. Assist or perform for the consumer(s) in personal care, such as grooming, feeding, toileting, meal preparation. Assist or perform for consumer(s) basic housekeeping tasks, laundry and grocery shopping, and other personal care services as assigned by DSP 2.
2. Support and guide the consumer in the choices they make regarding mobility, community access, and learning new skills.
medical appointments, communication, equipment repair, accessing recreational activities, prescribed exercises, and schedule generic travel arrangements and all activities as assigned by the DSP 2.
4. Provide companionship, guidance and supervision during Community activities.
5. Record daily in the consumer logs. This includes, but is not limited too, the following: SLS Consumer Daily Notes, Medication Log.
6. Report immediately any changes in the consumer’s mental, physical or emotional condition to supervisor.
7. Ensure consumer’s health and safety during assigned hours of responsibility. Ensure that consumer takes self-administered medication.
8. Assist in the overall maintenance of the consumer’s home and general upkeep of adaptive equipment as assigned. Report any damages to the property or needed repairs for safety purposes immediately to the Direct Support Professional 2 (DSP 2). Abide by all home rules, property agreements and equipment warranties.
9. Perform all duties as specified by the consumer, the Direct Support Professional 2, and 3 (DSP 2, and 3) and the Area Coordinator as detailed in the ISP and the Daily Task List.
Qualifications: and Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
One year of experience providing care to persons with developmental disabilities. Experience working with seniors in a human service field is also acceptable.
a. Valid California drivers license.
b. Driving record for the past 7 years (DMV printout required yearly).
c. Current vehicle registration and use of a vehicle in good running condition during shift hours.
d. Valid automobile insurance for that vehicle and all passengers, with employee name listed on the policy (new verification required at the expiration of the policy).
Based on experience - $19.50 - $21.50 hourly
