The OB Technician assists surgeons during surgical procedures and vaginal deliveries by passing instruments and managing sterile fields. They are also responsible for stocking supplies, performing vital signs, and supporting nursery and OB nurses.
Candidates must possess strong fine motor skills, precise hand-eye coordination, and the physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 100 pounds. Essential mental abilities include the capacity to anticipate surgeon needs and maintain accurate counts of sponges and needles.
The OB Technologist works under the supervision of Director-OB\Pediatrics. Performs and functions as a member of the OB team, passes instruments to the surgeon, assists the surgeon during surgical procedures, assists in vaginal delivery, stocks supplies, assists nursery and OB nurses as needed and performs vital signs when needed.
