Location: 2301 Erwin Rd, Durham, NC 27705

The Pediatric Cardiac Stepdown Unit, located in Duke Central Tower at Duke University Hospital, is a 19-bed specialized unit caring for infants through young adults with congenital heart disease, cardiac transplant needs, and complex medical conditions, including tracheostomy and ventilator dependence. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3. New graduate nurses will complete a 16-week paid orientation, monthly Nurse Residency classes, and completion of a unit-focused project.

• Full
• Time: 3, 12 hour shifts; 7 a.m./7 p.m., rotating days/nights; 36 hours per week.

• How you will make an impact
• Plan, provide, and document professional nursing care in accordance with physician orders, nursing plans of care, and established policies and procedures.
• Provide nursing services to patients and families within the scope of RN practice as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
• Delegate tasks and supervise licensed and unlicensed care providers while collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Participate in maintaining the environment of care, prioritizing work organization, and supporting performance improvement activities.
• Engage in professional development, support learners, and perform other related duties as assigned.

• What you will need
• Graduate of an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN), Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), or Nursing Diploma program.
