The PMHNP is responsible for conducting psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing mental health disorders, and developing integrated treatment plans. They manage psychotropic medications and provide evidence-based psychotherapy to patients across the lifespan.
Requires a Master's or Doctoral degree in psychiatric mental health nursing and current state licensure as a PMHNP or FNP with MAT certification. A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in psychiatry is required.
Master's or Doctoral degree in psychiatric mental health nursing from an accredited program. Current state licensure as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or FNP with MAT Certification. Certification as a PMHNP or FNP with MAT Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a PMHNP in a clinical setting, preferably with diverse individual populations and mental health disorders. Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills, with knowledge of psychotropic medications and their effects. Proficiency in conducting psychiatric evaluations, mental status exams, risk assessments, and crisis intervention. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and therapeutic skills, with the ability to establish rapport, build therapeutic alliances, and collaborate effectively with individuals and colleagues. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and technology used in healthcare documentation and communication. Commitment to evidence-based practice, continuous learning, and professional development in the field of mental health. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced and dynamic clinical environment.
