Board-Certified candidates are preferred, though we welcome interest from those who are Board Eligible. This is more than a position — it's an opportunity to join one of Southern California's most respected and dynamic surgical teams at a pivotal moment of growth."

Who We Are

Since 1990, Veterinary Surgical Specialists of Orange County (VSSOC) has been at the forefront of veterinary surgical medicine, successfully treating thousands of beloved pets and earning the trust of referring veterinarians across Southern California. As one of the first specialty practices in the nation to earn the Accredited Referral Practice designation from the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), we are held to exceptionally high standards across more than 900 aspects of our practice — a distinction that reflects our unwavering commitment to clinical excellence and patient safety. Featuring cutting-edge surgical suites, the latest diagnostic and imaging technology, and dedicated spaces designed for precision and efficiency, this facility is a testament to our investment in both our patients and our team.

Our mission is to deliver timely, expert solutions to the challenges faced by our patients, clients, and collaborative team. Trained at some of the most prestigious veterinary teaching hospitals in the country, our surgeons are recognized leaders in the field — and our commitment to progressive techniques and compassionate care has established VSSOC as one of the most highly skilled board-certified surgical teams in Southern California.

Market context

Boarded surgery roles remain selective in California

California veterinary surgery openings are typically in steady demand because specialty practices and referral hospitals need surgeons who can handle complex soft tissue and orthopedic cases. These roles are competitive because employers often look for Board-Certified surgeons, though Board-Eligible candidates may also be considered, and they usually require strong communication, U.S. work authorization, and readiness for a high-acuity caseload. Review the AI-summarized requirements and benefits here to save time, then confirm your board status and case experience before applying.
