Perform pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic laboratory processes, including the collection of specimens from inpatients and outpatients. Support patient testing by performing waived tests, loading analyzers, and managing physician orders in the system.
A high school diploma or GED is preferred, and candidates must be at least 18 years old. BLS Certification is required for those working at the ThedaCare Medical Center – Wild Rose.
Schedule: 2 days a week 4:30 PM to 4:30 AM 12hr shifts Weekend - Holiday Rotation KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Obtains specimens from inpatients and outpatients following proper identification protocols and appropriate techniques to maintain the integrity of the specimens, and prioritizes collections to meet established turnaround times. Supports patient testing by performing waived testing, loading analyzers, and performing lab functions, as needed, to meet patient demands. Adheres to OSHA and ThedaCare department policies for specimen collection and handling to ensure a safe work environment. Provides training for new lab and non-lab team members to retain top talent. Performs specimen-related computer functions with accuracy and speed including entering physician’s orders, processing cancelations, and entering add-on tests to ensure regulatory compliance. Enters, activates, and/or reviews physician orders in the system with accuracy for patient safety and quality. Maintains supplies and assists with inventory and ordering to ensure the availability of supplies to perform patient care responsibilities. Performs special specimen collections (i.e., legal specimen collections) to support patient testing and follow up as required by law.
