Health Information Management Clerk

Position Information

• The Health Information Management (HIM) Clerk is responsible for providing support to the Health Information Management (HIM) department. The HIM Clerk is responsible for reviewing, scanning, and updating medical record documents to ensure accuracy and completeness. The HIM Clerk understands HIPAA privacy and security related to protected health information (PHI) and upholds confidentiality. This position is 40 hours per week, and the schedule is Monday-Friday during business hours *This is a temporary summer position, available June-August to support an ongoing project in our HIM department.
• Essential Duties

· Performs chart reviews and audits of paper documents and scanned documents.

· Reviews and scans medical record documents into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

· Reviews and audits for missing documents.

· Ensures medical record documents are complete, of quality, and accurate, and assigns deficiencies as needed.

· Gathers and organizes medical records for retention and shredding.

· Maintains HIPAA compliance.

· Be able to sit for long periods of time.

· Ability to work independently.

• Hourly Rate is $20.84
• Paid Time Off - You will accrue Paid Sick and Safe Leave at 1 hour per 40 hours worked. Paid Sick leave cannot be used until 90 days after your hire date.

What We Require

Education: · High school diploma or equivalent

Work Experience

· Administrative experience on an EMR system, preferably EPIC.
