Performs complex diagnostic ultrasound and vascular examinations under minimal supervision to provide high-level patient care. Supports departmental objectives regarding clinical excellence, research, and the reduction of medical costs.
Requires an Associate's Degree from a CAAHEP program and BLS certification. Must hold or obtain RDMS certification in Abdomen or OB/GYN within six months of hire.
The Sonographer 1, under minimal supervision, performs complex diagnostic ultrasound and vascular exams. Provides high level of care to the ultrasound and vascular patient. Supports the major objectives of the Department of Ultrasound & Vascular such as excellence in clinical services, in educational activities, in research and development activities, in employee environmental conditions, and in reduction of medical cost. These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. Performs other duties as needed.
Associate's Degree required. Graduate of a Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) Program required. Minimum two years of ultrasound experience preferred. Experience may be considered in lieu of education if licensure and certification requirements are met.
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification in Abdomen or OB/GYN required or must attain within 6 months of hire date. Specialty credential in Breast, Neurosonology, Pediatric Sonography, Vascular Technology, or Musculoskeletal Sonography preferred. Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) from the American Heart Association required.
