Maintain the daily functions of the MRI department by initiating correct scanning protocols and preparing patients for examinations. Monitor patient conditions during scans and ensure the safe operation of MRI equipment and contrast injections.
Requires a high school diploma and a 2-year Radiology Technology degree from a JRCERT approved program. Must hold ARRT(R) or ARRT(MR) certification and preferably have at least two years of MRI scanning experience.
Under the direction of a radiologist, with minimum supervision, maintain the daily function of the MRI department.
Minimum of two years MRI scanning experience preferred.
High school with additional 2-year Radiology Technology Training from a JRCERT approved program. Additional training or experience in the field of MRI Technology. Certification Required: ARRT(R) or ARRT (MR). Certification preferred: ARRT(R)(MR)
A. The MRI technologist must initiate the correct protocol for scanning the requested anatomy with minimal supervision.
B. Advise and explain to the patient, the MRI examination procedure.
1. This would include communication for any patient population including pediatric, geriatric, neurology, psychiatric or any patient who is compromised with any deficit for hearing or understanding. 2. Advise patient of means of communication available during the scan and alert them as to the means of communication if an emergency arises. i.e.: emergency “squeeze ball”
3. Advise the patient of the possibility and/or necessity of an intravenous contrast injection and the precautions or contraindications involved with such an injection.
C. Transfer of patient to the MRI scanner table and preparation for intravenous injection if needed.

E. Maintain familiarity with life support equipment
