Coordinate and perform complex technical laboratory tests to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating diseases. Responsibilities include processing patient samples, maintaining automated equipment, and ensuring quality control results.
Requires an Associate or Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field with appropriate national certification. Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience in a medical laboratory setting.
To coordinate and participate in a variety of complex technical tasks in the performance of laboratory tests used to obtain data for use by the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Major
Process and accession patient samples. Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests that may include chemical, microscopic, bacteriologic and other examinations, from waived to high complexity. Operate and maintain manual and automated laboratory equipment. Prepare reagents, chemicals, and other solutions. Evaluate and release patient test and quality control results. Participate in the evaluation and installation of new instruments and/or test procedures. Participate in quality processes. Train new staff members and respond to questions from clinic staff.
