Nemours is seeking a Genetics Counselor in Wilmington, DE.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced and motivated genetic counselor to work with our medical genetics section and neurology specialists. The genetic counselor will support existing services with opportunity to expand scope of involvement.
The genetic counselor will work with members of the medical genetics team including medical geneticists, physician assistants and genetic counselors to provide care to our pediatric patients and their families. There is opportunity for collaborative care as well as independent genetic counseling visits. Medical genetics referrals include a wide range of indications including neurodevelopmental diagnoses, congenital anomalies, complex medical histories and connective tissue disorders.
The genetic counselor also works autonomously, yet collaboratively, with Neurology specialists to provide genetic counseling and coordination of testing for patients referred with multiple indications not limited to epilepsy, neuropathy, movement and neuromuscular disorders including participation in a MDA clinic.
Genetic counseling assistants provide support for both roles.
The genetic counselor is also encouraged to participate in the development and execution of clinical research studies, manuscript/abstract preparation and scientific presentations. There are multiple internal opportunities for accrual of continuing education credits.
