The SLP is responsible for facilitating the recovery of speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive functions for patients. This includes creating individualized treatment plans and educating patients and families on communication strategies.
Candidates must hold a current Speech Language Pathologist license in the state and a current CPR certification. At least 3 years of experience in a skilled nursing environment is preferred.

Responsibilities of the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP): Creating, administering, and organizing individualized plans of treatment for patients. Instructing clients in techniques for more effective communication, including sign language, lip reading and voice improvement. Educating patients and family members about various topics such as communication techniques and strategies to cope with or to avoid personal misunderstandings. Communicating with the dietary department regarding rehabilitation lunches for patients with swallow dysfunctions.
