The Ophthalmic Technician performs initial patient work-ups, including gathering medical histories and conducting vision and pressure tests. They are also responsible for preparing patients for exams and procedures while maintaining efficient patient flow and medical records.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and experience in patient history and documentation. Strong communication skills and knowledge of laboratory hygiene and biohazard handling are required, with Spanish bilingualism highly desired.
The Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for completing Initial work up of patients such as gathering and documenting chief complaint, ocular and systemic history, and past family and social history. Will perform initial patient assessments to determine the ophthalmic status of each patient. May scribe in electronic medical records format to document the patient visit and examination. Contributes to the team as necessary to ensure quality patient care.
