Collaborates with physicians to assess, diagnose, and implement medical care for patients across office, hospital, and emergency settings. Responsible for performing therapeutic procedures, conducting patient evaluations, and coordinating continuity of care.
Requires graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program and a valid PA license, BLS, and NCCPA certification. A minimum of 2 years of recent, relevant clinical experience is required.
PATIENT CARE Performs patient assessments, including obtaining medical history, reviewing records, conducting physical exams, documenting findings, and reporting abnormalities to the attending physician. Provides healthcare services under the direction and responsibility of a physician. Conducts comprehensive patient evaluations, including physical examinations and compilation of medical data. Orders, administers, and interprets diagnostic tests, identifying deviations from normal findings. Develops and implements patient management plans; documents progress and ensures continuity of care. Educates and counsels patients on treatment compliance, health maintenance, family planning, and emotional well-being. Performs therapeutic procedures, including injections, immunizations, and infection management. ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES Communicates effectively (written and verbal) with patients, physicians, and staff. Provides patient education and counseling. Ensures accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters. Supports quality assessment initiatives and reporting. Coordinates communication between providers to ensure continuity of care. Facilitates patient access to community and support resources for medical and psychosocial needs. PERFORMANCE AND PROCESS IMPROVEMENT Identifies, reports, and participates in performance improvement initiatives. Recommends and implements process improvements aligned with organizational goals. Assists in development and maintenance of clinical pathways, order sets, and preference cards. Collects, tracks, and analyzes performance improvement data. Participates in clinical effectiveness projects and studies.
