About the role

The Pathology Assistant supports pathologists by performing gross examination, dissection, and processing of surgical and tissue specimens. They are also responsible for maintaining accurate laboratory records and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Pathology Assistant to support pathologists in the examination, processing, and documentation of surgical and tissue specimens. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional seeking a flexible part-time schedule in a collaborative healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens
  • Accession, label, and process tissue specimens
  • Prepare and document specimen descriptions and measurements
  • Submit tissue sections for histologic examination
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and reports
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
  • Assist with specimen tracking, storage, and disposal
  • Support laboratory quality improvement initiatives
  • Maintain laboratory supplies and equipment
  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or related field required
  • PA(ASCP) certification preferred
  • Previous pathology, histology, or laboratory experience preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Requirements
