About the role

Provide mental health assessments, crisis intervention, and referrals for patients in the Emergency Department. Coordinate discharge planning and act as a liaison between mental health services and community agencies.

Position Summary

Responsible for providing mental health services to patients presenting in the Emergency Department, including crisis/intake assessment and intervention, making appropriate referral for acuity, providing education, discharge planning, acting as a community liaison, offering assistance to family members. Education, License & Cert: A Bachelors’ Degree in Psychology, or Human Services related field is required.

Experience

  • One year’s experience working in a psychiatric setting, a human service field or a related field.

  • Functions: 1. Provides evaluations, assessments, crisis intervention and referral for all populations served by the department in the emergency room. 2. Demonstrates the ability to document understandable, comprehensible psychiatric evaluation and progress notes. 3. Responsible discharge planning and arranges follow‐up care and referrals. 4. Functions as a liaison between the Mental Health services and community agencies and maintains knowledge if the community resources that may be used in treatment planning. 5. Recognizes and identifies actual or potential situations which places the organization at risk for corporate compliance violations. Communicates compliance issues/concerns with department manager and/or follows the policy for addressing the situation.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related Human Services field. At least one year of experience in a psychiatric or human service setting is required.
