Provides clinical support in an ambulatory setting by preparing patients for exams, recording vital signs, and performing point-of-care testing. Manages administrative tasks including scheduling, referral tracking, and maintaining medical supplies.
Requires a high school diploma and Basic Life Support Certification, with a preference for medical assistant certification. Candidates must be a graduate of a formal MA program or possess at least 3 years of related clinical experience.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE: High School graduate or equivalent required. Able to read, write and speak English. Basic Life Support Certification required. Completion of a medical assistant certification preferred. EXPERIENCE: Graduate of a formal medical assistant training program or a minimum of 3 years of medical assistant experience required. Exceptions to the above requirements may be considered for applicants who do not have formal medical assistant training, but have at least three years of related experience in a comparable role, such as LPN, medical student, EMT, paramedic, etc. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Healthcare environment such as acute care hospitals, physicians' offices and ancillary healthcare enterprises. Works with medical equipment and has direct patient contact. Any potential hazards are minimized by adherence to established safety procedures and precautions including use safety equipment and protective clothing. Walks and stands intermittently throughout the day. May be exposed to electrical and energy hazards. May lift and position patients, and lift supplies up to 50 pounds.
