Job Summary The Histotechnician 1 prepares specimens for microscopic evaluation and diagnosis. They perform technical procedures to create microscopic slide preparations. Operates and maintains laboratory instruments, records, and documentation with minimal supervision. Essential Functions of the Role Perform variety of technical procedures resulting in creation of microscopic slide preparations. Follow quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures. Perform instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. Maintain appropriate inventory of supplies. Maintain effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers. Participate in laboratory projects and educational activities. Demonstrates and educates laboratory practices and technical skills to others. Key Success Factors Knowledge of laboratory regulations, protocols and procedures. Statistical and critical thinking abilities. Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions. Ability to perform laboratory protocols and procedures.
