The Dentist at Callen-Lorde is responsible for delivering primary dental care with sensitivity and professionalism. This role involves working within a collaborative care team and maintaining the highest ethical standards. Your passion for community-based healthcare will thrive here. Key Responsibilities: Provide dental care to Callen-Lorde patients according to schedules, with accurate documentation. Offer primary dental services, including preventive, restorative, endodontic, and prosthetic treatments. Maintain productivity standards and manage appointment scheduling. Demonstrate professionalism, cooperation, and judgment in emergencies. Promote dental health education in the community. Collaborate with specialists and other healthcare providers. Ensure accurate record-keeping using the problem-oriented dental record. Participate in quality assurance activities and educational programs. Work as a team with dental assistants and dental hygienists. Comply with organizational policies and procedures. Work Schedule Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with one regularly scheduled evening shift per week. Additional schedule flexibility may be required based on departmental and organizational needs. DEA Controlled Substances Registration Certificate. Familiarity with New York Stated Dental Medicaid/ADAP guidelines. Certification of completion of oral cancer detection mandate course. Knowledge of community health principles desirable. Prior experience in a healthcare, social services, community-based, or nonprofit organization, particularly in settings that provide services to diverse communities with varying healthcare and support needs. Effective communication skills with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals. Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under stress in a dynamic environment, managing patient care needs effectively. Demonstrate proficiency in essential digital tools and healthcare technology including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems EPIC Excel in delivering patient-centered care with a strong focus on customer service, emphasizing empathy, active listening, and responsive communication. Proficiency in more than one language (e.g., Spanish/English) is beneficial for serving our diverse patient population.
