Supervise clients' therapeutic activities and monitor behaviors within a correctional healthcare setting. Maintain accurate clinical records and provide didactic sessions on chemical dependency and life skills.
Requires a high school diploma with two years of substance abuse experience, or a degree in social sciences or a related field. Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to implement de-escalation techniques.

High School diploma or equivalency with two (2) years of prior experience in the substance abuse field; or An Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree in any unrelated area of study from an accredited academic institution and one (1) year of experience in the counseling or chemical addictions field; or A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in any of the social sciences. General knowledge of the physical, cognitive and psychosocial functioning level of the client population; and the demonstrated ability to appropriately interact, tailor interventions, including de-escalation techniques, and communicate with clients based on their individual maturation level Good interpersonal and communication skills necessary to exchange information and interact with treatment team and referral sources, and provide clients with counseling support and motivation
Ability to walk or move about facilities for up to two hours at a time, to monitor and interact with clients Ability to speak with others in order to exchange information and provide support Ability to proofread and check documents and files for accuracy on a regular basis Ability to respond to telephones and pages, and to hear and detect alarms and unusual noises
If you have also previously worked as a Substance Use Counselor, SUD Counselor, Addiction Counselor, Mental Health Counselor, Mental Health Technician, Behavioral Health Technician, Recovery Coach, Peer Support Specialist, or similar roles, you are encouraged to apply! Compensation (based on experience and credentials):
Range begins at $20.70 per hour Gateway Foundation conducts annual reviews including merit increases.
