Assist anesthesiologists and surgical teams by preparing and maintaining anesthesia equipment across various clinical areas. Ensure patient safety and comfort while managing inventory and facilitating anesthesia workflow.
Must be a graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program with a current New York State license. Current BLS/CPR certification is required.
Anesthesia technicians assist anesthesiologist and surgical teams in the Main Operating Room, NE surgery Center, the CVOR, and provide anesthesia procedure support in other areas such as Labor and Delivery, Cath Lab, Endo, and IR. Inspect, prepare, maintain, and troubleshoot anesthesia equipment and monitoring devices. Monitor inventory levels, check and restock anesthesia/emergency supply carts. Facilitate anesthesia workflow by preparing the operating room and/or procedural areas in collaboration with the perioperative team. Ensure patient safety and comfort by providing support and assisting with patient care under the direction of anesthesia professionals. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE: Graduate of an accredited program for Licensed Practical Nurse, holding a current license or temporary permit from the State of New York. Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise. Clinical Practice: Maintains anesthesia equipment within the service. Maintains anesthesia stock and inventory. Performs and documents preventive maintenance procedures. Adheres to safety standards within the service. Performs sterilization and disinfecting techniques according to policy and procedure. Utilizes Materials Safety Data Sheets within service. Maintains confidentiality as it relates to patients, staff, and visitors. Adheres to hospital confidentiality statement. SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Current BLS/CPR certification. Demonstrates manual dexterity and ability to handle mechanical equipment and instruments. Ability to work effectively in task-orientated situations. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS: Clinical setting. Exposure Class I – Routine or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions or secretions. Hazards include risk of communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and risk of potential injury. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Moderate work: frequent pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, standing, walking, stooping and reaching. SUPERVISED BY: Chief of Anesthesia, Manager, Coordinator, Registered Nurse SUPERVISES: N/A Pay Range: $25.50 - $33.75 Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
