The Scrub Technician supports urologic surgical procedures by preparing the operating room and maintaining a sterile field. They assist surgeons during procedures and ensure safe, high-quality patient care through efficient instrument handling and room turnover.
Candidates must have completed an accredited Surgical Technology program and a high school diploma. A CST certification and 1-2 years of surgical experience, particularly in urology, are preferred.
The Scrub Technician is to support urologic surgical procedures in a fast-paced clinical environment. Scrub Tech is responsible for preparing the operating room, maintaining a sterile field, and assisting surgeons and surgical teams before, during, and after procedures to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. This role requires strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation, aseptic technique, and procedural workflow specific to urologic surgeries. The ideal candidate demonstrates professionalism, teamwork, and a commitment to patient safety. Responsibilities Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for urologic procedures. Set up and maintain a sterile field throughout surgical cases. Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments and supplies efficiently during procedures. Perform surgical counts of sponges, needles, and instruments according to policy. Assist with patient positioning, draping, and room turnover between cases. Ensure proper handling and labeling of specimens. Maintain compliance with infection control standards and regulatory guidelines. Assist with inventory management and restocking of surgical supplies. Document procedures and maintain accurate records as required. Qualifications Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program. Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred. 1–2 years of surgical experience preferred; urology experience a plus. Strong understanding of sterile technique and operating room protocols. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to patient safety. Education and Certifications: High school diploma or equivalent (required); associate degree or higher a plus.
