Provide comprehensive postpartum care for mothers and newborns, including patient assessments and the development of individualized care and discharge plans. Supervise support staff and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient needs are met.
Requires an Associate degree in Nursing and a current Kentucky RN license. Mandatory certifications include BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP, with some obtainable within 30 to 90 days of hire.
Registered Nurse (RN) Full-Time, 3rd Shift BHCOR-Cor Women’s Health Corbin, KY Women’s & Children’s Services consist of an 18-bed private unit providing comprehensive, patient- and family-centered postpartum care for both mothers and their newborns. The unit emphasizes maternal recovery, newborn well-being, education, and support while ensuring a safe, comfortable environment that promotes bonding and family involvement. Performs care requiring substantial specialized knowledge, judgement and nursing skills based upon the principles of psychological, biological, physical and social sciences in the application of the nursing process. Utilizes high-level assessment skills to design and ensure multidisciplinary patient care to meet holistic needs, incorporating established practice guidelines and regulatory standards. Must possess ability to supervise LPNs, CNAs, Techs, Unit Secretaries, and Clinical students. All employees will continually monitor and adhere to safety responsibilities and initiatives.
Conducts and documents patient assessments, monitors condition changes, and updates care plans as needed. Provides patient care in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, and physician orders. Develops individualized patient and family education and discharge plans using a multidisciplinary approach. Communicates effectively with physicians, supervisors, patients, and healthcare team members to support quality patient care. Demonstrates critical thinking, sound judgment, and appropriate delegation in routine and emergency situations. Prioritizes workload, coordinates patient flow, and completes assignments efficiently within scheduled shifts. Supports teamwork, staff development, and professional growth while serving as a resource to others. Maintains required licensure, completes mandatory training, and follows all safety and regulatory requirements.
Associate degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing with current RN licensure required. No prior experience required; patient care experience preferred. Current Kentucky RN license or Kentucky work permit required. Required certifications/training include BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, Glucometer Training, and Aegis Training. BLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire. ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications must be obtained within 90 days of hire. Glucometer and Aegis Training required upon hire or per department needs.
