Provide community-based peer support and rehabilitative skills building for children, adolescents, and their families to improve overall functioning. Facilitate family voice and choice in multi-disciplinary team meetings and coordinate care with internal and external providers.
Must be a Certified Peer Specialist-Parent (CPS-P) in Georgia and possess a current driver's license. Preferred experience includes raising a child with substance use or co-occurring conditions.
Facilitating peer support among the participating group family members Assisting families in gaining skills to promote the families’ recovery process (e.g., self-advocacy, developing natural support, etc.) Support family voice and choice by assisting the family in assuming the lead roles in all multi-disciplinary team meetings Listening to the family’s needs and concerns from a peer perspective, and offering suggestions for engagement in planning process Providing ongoing emotional support, modeling and mentoring during all phases of the planning services/support planning process Helping families better understand services offered by service providers, and assisting with understanding policies, procedures, and regulations that impact on the youth while living in the community Ensuring the engagement and active participation of the family and youth in the planning process and guiding families toward taking a pro-active and self-managing role in their youth's treatment Assisting the family with the acquisition of the skills and knowledge necessary to sustain an awareness of the youth's needs as well as his/her strengths and the development and enhancement of the family's unique problem‐solving skills, coping mechanisms, and strategies for the youth. Any other duties assigned by Child and Adolescent Community Services Manager and/or Director of the C&A Department. Staff will have contact with the individuals on his/her caseload regularly. Staff will meet with peers at a minimum twice a month, with at least 50% of contacts being face-to-face and 80% of contacts outside of the clinic setting. SKILL, COMPENTENCY AND EDUCATION AND/OR LICENSURE REQUIREMNTS: Certified Peer Specialist-Parent in Georgia. Must have a current driver’s license. INTER- RELATIONSHIPS: Able to work closely with other staff within the center, including clinicians, prescribers, and front desk staff, as well as other community providers for client referrals and linkage. All services must align with the System of Care philosophy: Community-Based: The locus of services rests working with and within the community and community partners to help families function better at home and in school.
