Baptist health is hiring a registered respiratory therapist for our free standing emergency department location located in st. Augustine. This is a prn night shift opportunity.

At baptist health, a respiratory therapist is responsible for assessing, treating, and caring for patients with respiratory or breathing disorders. This role involves administering respiratory therapy treatments, performing diagnostic pulmonary function tests, managing and monitoring mechanical ventilators, and providing patient education and respiratory care support. The respiratory therapist collaborates with physicians and healthcare teams to deliver safe, effective, and high-Quality patient care.

Respiratory therapist job responsibilities

  • Assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with breathing disorders
  • Administering respiratory therapies
  • Performing and interpreting diagnostic tests
  • Monitoring and managing mechanical ventilators for patients who require respiratory support
  • Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Providing patient education and support on proper breathing techniques, medication usage, and lifestyle changes
  • Maintaining accurate and complete patient assessments, treatments, and progress documentation

Registered respiratory therapist education & credential requirements

  • Certificate Required
  • Associate of Science Preferred
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Required-FL DOH
  • One of the below is required within 6 months of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification
