The role involves optimizing patients prior to surgery by rooming patients, performing EKGs, phlebotomy, and collecting vitals. Additionally, the technician handles administrative tasks such as EPIC in-basket work, processing FMLA/disability paperwork, and contacting patients with results.
Candidates must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. A Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC is required within 90 days of hire.
About the Practice This department specializes in optimizing patients prior to surgery. We see medium to high-risk patients who are having a procedure done at any Corewell Health West facility. The role will include rooming patients, EKGs, phlebotomy, and contacting patients with lab results (training is provided). You will be part of a team that collaborates with providers, nurse navigators, and clinical support team. Our Physicians and APPs are very approachable, and we work well together as a team. About Outpatient Clinics Corewell Health operates over 300 outpatient clinics across Michigan, bringing a multitude of care options to the communities that we serve. There are over 40 different types of primary care and specialty practices, which allows those who work in these clinics the opportunity to learn and explore various interests or to specialize in one area. Scope of work Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Provider or Registered Nurse (RN) in the examination and treatment of patients to facilitate clinic flow and provide excellent patient care. Performs basic skills per department guidelines and policies; communicate observations to members of the health care team. It will also include rooming patients, collecting vitals, and assisting in minor office procedures. EPIC In basket work. Processing FMLA and short-term Disability work. Answering phones.
