The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for preparing patients for exams, obtaining vital signs, and assisting providers with daily clinical activities. They also manage lab specimens, coordinate referrals, and maintain accurate patient documentation in electronic health records.
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program and hold a valid certification from a recognized body such as the NHA or AAMA. Previous clinical experience in a medical office is preferred.
Prepare patients for appointments, exams, and minor procedures Obtain vital signs, patient history, and other clinical information Assist providers and clinical staff with daily patient care activities Administer medications and vaccines as ordered Collect and prepare lab specimens for testing as needed Coordinate referrals, follow-up appointments, and patient care tracking Document patient information accurately within the electronic health record Provide education and answer questions for patients and family members Support a positive, collaborative clinic environment focused on excellent patient care Maintain compliance with clinic, safety, privacy, and regulatory standards
Education: Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants (Certificate, diploma, or Associate’s Degree) required.
