Provides direct hands-on support to patients, including assistance with activities of daily living and safe ambulation. Responsible for monitoring patient conditions, documenting care, and communicating changes to the nursing team.
Requires enrollment in or completion of high school and BLS certification within 90 days of hire. Previous experience as a Patient Care Tech or completion of specific training is required, with CNA certification preferred.
Assists patients with ADL’s according to hospital procedures, reports all abnormal findings and changes in patient condition to nurse in charge of patient. Assists with ambulation of patients and uses assist devices as appropriate to protect patient and staff member. Assists with restocking of rooms and maintain a safe and clean environment. Attends appropriate training programs, unit meetings and other mandatory meetings. Seeks to be involved in unit improvements, quality projects, and other enhancements to patient care. Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines. Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
Education: Must be actively enrolled in high school or equivalent program. High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
