The Program Nurse is responsible for administering and inventorying methadone while ensuring compliance with DEA and CARF standards. They manage patient health records, perform clinical tests like EKGs and blood draws, and coordinate care for patients across multiple clinic locations.
Candidates must be a Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Alaska with a valid driver's license. Preference is given to those with at least one year of experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting.
Role and Responsibilities
Employees in this position must be willing and able to travel between all three clinic locations; Anchorage, Big Lake, and Kenai, as needed to support staffing, operational coverage, and patient care needs. Schedule physical examinations and laboratory tests for patients. Assist the Medical Director in the delivery of services to patients. Assist the Patient Care Coordinator in the delivery of medical services to patients. Administer, secure and inventory methadone. Follow all DEA regulations, federal regulations, state regulations and CARF accreditation standards. Report and/or document the effects of the medication that is administered to the supervisor. Maintain patient electronic health record, including uploading and scanning all correspondence and laboratory results and relevant information. Complete documentation for patient enrollments. Monitor the urine drug screening process of patients. Provide continual health, first aid and emergency medical treatment for patients and staff. Review educational handouts about methadone treatment for new patients. Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and case conferences. Document nurse’s notes in EHR/EMR. Coordinate care for incarcerated patients. Monitor the departments inventory needs and communicate with the Patient Care Coordinator. Maintain the urine drug screen electronic records system. Maintain the Lab Corp electronic records system. Collect blood specimens as ordered by Medical Director or his designee. Complete EKG’s as ordered by Medical Director or his designee.
and Education Requirements Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Alaska. A valid Alaska Driver’s license. Preferably one year experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting.
