This Per Diem as needed, Ultrasound Technologist position at Banner Churchill. Scans include, abdomen, pelvic, vascular and more. Volumes vary day to day but average 15 per day.

Located in Fallon, Nev., Banner Churchill Community Hospital is a 25-bed licensed hospital offering the most comprehensive array of medical services in rural northern Nevada. We provide comprehensive and emergency care, including an ambulance service that covers more than 5,900 square miles. This makes us one of only two hospital-operated paramedic/EMT/EMS providers in northern Nevada. Our location in Fallon - a short drive from both Reno and Lake Tahoe - offers a wealth of lifestyle advantages, including rustic, rural charm, along with a recreational wonderland of outdoor sports, such as boating, fishing, hiking, biking, skiing, hunting, horseback riding and off-roading.

Position Summary

This position performs procedures by following and verifying referring providers’ orders. Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures for one Ultrasound certification.

Core functions

1.

Performs all exams by following and verifying referring providers’ orders.

Adheres to established protocols and provides all pertinent patient information utilized by Radiologist for complete dictation.

Uses independent judgement and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures for all ultrasound exams.

Scanning competencies should include, at a minimum, all patient ages, acuity levels and classes, independently and without quality issues.

Performs ultrasound guided procedures and works closely with radiologist or provider.

2. Educates patients and families about procedure and/or treatment to be performed. Demonstrates professional behavior and conduct in all interactions. Fosters teamwork, ensures efficient use of resources and advocates for quality patient outcomes.

Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements.

Performs troubleshooting as needed and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance.

Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors.

Adheres to safety policies.

Ensures imaging areas and equipment are in a constant state of "Ready".

4. Demonstrates competence in performing prescribed invasive/interventional procedures if applicable and in accordance with established policies. Maintains proficiency and competencies signed off for all studies related to certification(s). Performs high quality imaging and in accordance with training received.

5. Accountable for the ethical, legal, professional and certification responsibilities related to the practice. Maintains confidentiality of all work information.

6. Assures the efficient operation of workflow in the department through patient triage and prioritization. Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure uninterrupted services.

7. Internal customers

All levels of medical imaging and nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary health care team.

External

Customers: regulatory and health agencies, patients, and family members.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires national certification in one area of specialty from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Uncertified new hires who are Registry eligible must obtain certification within 12 months of hire and image with an experienced technologist until they become fully proficient. BLS certification required.

Completion of an approved Ultrasound program.

This position requires clinical knowledge typically achieved by 0-3 years of experience.

Must demonstrate effective communication skills, human relations skills, ability to analyze data and solve problems.

Requirements

Requires completion of an approved Ultrasound program and BLS certification. Must hold or obtain national certification from ARDMS, CCI, or ARRT within 12 months of hire.
