1 observation and care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Additionally, they support staff with health interventions and participate in data collection activities like hygiene surveillance.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in an NLN approved nursing program with more than one year remaining before graduation. A BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required upon hire.
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Extern assists patients with activities of daily living; provides a safe environment for patients by providing 1:1 observation and care; and assists staff and patients with select procedures and health interventions, all in a family centered environment. The Extern can also assist in data collection activities (i.e. hand hygiene surveillance, personal protective equipment usage, etc).

This is an extern position designed for nursing students currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program in Anchorage, Alaska. To be eligible for this position, students must be currently in their 1st semester or 2nd semester of nursing school with more than 1 calendar year remining before graduation.
Schedule: (2x) 6-hour shifts per week with some weekend shift required
1:00pm - 7:00pm

Posted are the minimum and the maximum wage rates on the wage range for this position. The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
