Nurse Practitioner

Nurse Practitioner - Qualified candidates must have a MSN or Doctorate degree in nursing, current Alabama license, and national certification. Experience in critical care is desired.

Duties

• may include:
• Seeing and treating patients established with Pulmonary Associates in the hospital
• Seeing all new consults that come in during shift
• Writing prescriptions
• Notifying physician of newly diagnosed pulmonary problems
• Ordering patient supplies and equipment
• Document patient encounters with appropriate note (ie history, physical progress)
• Maintain appropriate documentation as required by Alabama Board of Nursing and/or certifying body
• Provide patient instruction: Metered Dose Inhaler, Peakflow Meter, Diskus, Diet, Medical D
• During each shift, the Nurse Practitioner’s primary responsibility is to the On-Call physician.
• Schedule outpatient procedures
• Order Home Respiratory Equipment or Durable Medical Equipment.
• Other responsibilities as may be assigned from time- to- time by supervisor
