About the Role

Innovative Therapeutic Services (ITS) is seeking a dedicated Behavioral Health Therapist/Mental Health Clinician to provide behavioral health services to children and adolescents in a structured juvenile detention center setting. This role involves working with youth diagnosed with a range of Axis I disorders, including anxiety, depression, and ADHD.

Join our collaborative behavioral health team and enjoy a structured environment with consistent scheduling—free from frequent cancellations and excessive productivity demands.

Position Details

This is a part-time position requiring approximately 16 hours per week. Available shifts are Mondays and Thursdays from either 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM or 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Scheduling flexibility may be required based on facility needs. Core Responsibilities Manage a caseload of 8–12 youth Provide individual therapy, group counseling, and family engagement sessions (45–60 minutes) Facilitate weekly psychoeducational groups (1 hour) Conduct required screenings, assessments, and follow-ups Provide crisis intervention services and complete corresponding documentation Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, including youth staffings Collaborate effectively with the behavioral health team Qualifications and Requirements Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field Active Maryland licensure (e.g., LCPC or LCSW-C) Minimum of three (3) years of professional counseling experience Experience working with children and adolescents, preferably in juvenile justice or similar settings Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with technology (e.g., Google Docs) Ability to pass federal, state, and Child Protective Services (CPS) background checks Reliable transportation Key Competencies Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities Flexibility, creativity, and problem-solving ability Commitment to ethical, trauma-informed, and high-quality care About Innovative Therapeutic Services (ITS) Innovative Therapeutic Services (ITS) is a growing Outpatient Mental Health Clinic (OMHC) dedicated to delivering comprehensive, evidence-based mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults. Our multidisciplinary team provides high-quality psychotherapy, psychiatric rehabilitation, and medication management grounded in trauma-informed and client-centered care.

As part of our strategic expansion, ITS is extending mental health services throughout Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) centers across Maryland. This expansion reflects our mission to increase access to high-quality behavioral health care for justice-involved youth while creating meaningful opportunities for clinicians to contribute to systems-level impact, professional growth, and community-based change.

Requirements

Requires a Master's degree in a related field and active Maryland licensure as an LCPC or LCSW-C. Candidates must have at least three years of professional counseling experience, preferably with children and adolescents in juvenile justice settings.
