Assists nursing staff by initiating patients on dialysis via AV fistula or graft and monitoring their condition during treatment. Responsible for setting up dialysis machines, documenting patient data, and ensuring adherence to department policies.
Assists nursing staff with patient care by recording patient information, preparing supplies and equipment, initiating patient on dialysis with an AV fistula or AV graft, and monitoring and responding to patient’s condition to ensure activities meet department policies and procedures and patient’s needs.
Certification/Registration/Licensure
Must have current certification as a Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) or Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) under a State of Texas certification program or a national commercially available certification program.
Must have current CPR certification, or obtain certification within 30 days of placement in job from one of the following:
American Heart Association
American Red Cross Rescuer
Military Training Network.
Skills or Special Abilities
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill to use a body of standardized patient care procedures and related nursing care.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill to observe and document patient’s reaction to care.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill to operate a computer to input and extract information within three months of employment.
Must be able to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
Must be able to demonstrate basic mathematical skills.
Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
Requires a High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of experience in patient care. Must hold current CHT or CCHT certification and a valid CPR certification.
