The Counselor Assistant supervises clients' therapeutic activities and monitors their movement and behavior within a correctional healthcare setting. They are responsible for maintaining client records, providing didactic sessions, and collaborating with the treatment team to implement care plans.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalency and at least two years of experience in the behavioral health field. Required skills include knowledge of psychosocial functioning and the ability to apply de-escalation techniques with diverse client populations.

High School diploma or equivalency Two (2) years of prior experience in the behavioral health field. General knowledge of the physical, cognitive and psychosocial functioning level of the client population; and the demonstrated ability to appropriately interact, tailor interventions, including de-escalation techniques, and communicate with clients based on their individual maturation level Good interpersonal and communication skills necessary to exchange information and interact with treatment team and referral sources, and provide clients with counseling support and motivation
Ability to walk or move about facilities for up to two hours at a time, to monitor and interact with clients Ability to speak with others in order to exchange information and provide support Ability to proofread and check documents and files for accuracy on a regular basis Ability to respond to telephones and pages, and to hear and detect alarms and unusual noises
